Project Araucaria
Polish composer Przemysław Scheller is developing Project Araucaria, an artistic-scientific initiative inspired by the work of astrophysicists at the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center, whose research helps measure cosmic distances and understand the scale of the Universe. As part of the project, Scheller will travel to Chile's Atacama Desert to work alongside scientists, conduct field recordings at the Cerro Murphy Observatory, and document the sounds and vibrations of one of the world's leading astronomical research environments. The collected material will form the basis of a large-scale immersive audio work premiering in Chile and Poland in 2027, combining documentary, electroacoustic composition, and science communication
