Contact Zones (Rozalinda Borcila, Lyn Rye and Nu A.M.)
This is an artistic and political intervention into sites that are being demolished in the name of redevelopment. This project focuses the Damen Silos, a former industrial site that has become a beloved place since its abandonment in the 1960s. Plants and animals have been reclaiming the silos, local youth have been gathering to create art and build community. This project develops an acoustic archive of contact mic recordings in the metal, concrete and soil around the site during demolition. Musicians will then reinterpret the archive to produce an album of original sound works. The album will be accompanied by community gatherings and soundings at the site over the course of Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.
