House of Shadows
House of Shadows is a hybrid artistic endeavour that bridges the gap between creative documentary filmmaking and visual arts. The project explores the lasting colonial trauma of the 1852 events in Laghouat (the Algerian desert) It treats this history not as a frozen artifact, but as an "active haunting" and a toxic substance that has permeated bodies, landscapes, and minds across generations. Through a "stratigraphy of memory," the project contrasts the mineral roughness of Laghouat's sand with the fragile paper of colonial archives, seeking to visually explore how history continues to shape our humanity.
