Erick Antonio Benitez

Erick Antonio Benitez (b. Bronx, NY) is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and musician based in Los Angeles, CA. They received a MFA in Art + Integrated Media from the California Institute of the Arts in 2023. Benitez has exhibited work at The Baltimore Museum of Art (MD), The Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington (VA), Dinner Gallery (NYC), Untitled Art Fair Miami, Galerie B-312 (Montreal, QC), SWAB Art Fair (Barcelona, ES), Casa 510 (San Salvador, SV) and Simultan Festival (Timișoara, RO). Their work has been reviewed by ARTnews, The Washington Post, The Daily Lazy, Terremoto (MX) and Le Devoir (QC), and printed publications including New American Paintings issue 154, BmoreArt issue 6, and John Hopkins Special Collections. 

For their LOM+you project, Benitez incorporated the use of the Elektrouši sensors to record electromagnetic waves recording from various public surveillance cameras placed in the city of Batimore (MD, USA), which are specifically placed in segregated racially profiled neighborhoods. The recordings were included in a sound piece composition that contributed to the project installation titled "Portrait of the Living Sky" which consists of site-specific research in the areas of Amazon Rainforest in Peru, Montreal (Canada), and Baltimore, MD (USA). This project was also commissioned by Pigment Sauvage (Baltimore, MD, USA) residency and Galerie 312 (Montreal, Canada).
