Pike River is a New Zealand feature film by Rob Sarkies that tells the story of a fight for justice and accountability after 29 men died in the Pike River mine in 2010. Supported by LOM+you, a LOM Geófon was used to capture sounds from the sealed mine by attaching it onto pipes that run deep into the mine. The textures from these recordings are being used as an integral part of the sound design for key moments in the film.  The geofon was also used on set to capture unusual sounds in domestic settings and recorded alongside the dialogue on a separate track. A set of Basic Uchos was used to record stereo ambiences to anchor the film in its remote location. Rob also recorded sound in pre-production and post, production sound was recorded by Mark Williams, it is being sound designed by Nick Buckton at Native Audio and will be mixed by Oscar winning Mike Hedges at Park Road Post in Wellington, New Zealand.
